Boutique Motor: from PrestaShop 1.7 to PrestaShop 9 (real Madrid case)

Boutique Motor rebuilt on PrestaShop 9.1.5: custom theme, in-store POS, SEO without IDs and migration from PrestaShop 1.7. Live at boutiquemotor.es.

Live case: boutiquemotor.es - Boutique Motor (Boutique del Motor), a physical shop and online store for premium motorcycle gear in Madrid (C/ Isaac Peral 8). Brands such as Arai, Dainese, Alpinestars, HJC and REV’IT. They needed a storefront that matches the brand and a back office the team can actually run: catalog, in-store POS, invoices, SEO and blog.

We rebuilt the shop on PrestaShop 9.1.5 (PHP 8.3) with a custom theme and custom modules. This was not a one-click 1.7 → 9 upgrade. Theme, checkout, SEO URLs and modules were written for PrestaShop 9, with a proper migration of catalog, customers and history.

What it was before (PrestaShop 1.7)

The live shop ran on PrestaShop 1.7. Classic 1.7 stack: older theme, IDs in URLs, harder to maintain, and not built for current PHP / PrestaShop 9. Catalog, customers and order history had to be kept. We did not renumber orders.

What we upgraded to (PrestaShop 9.1.5)

Rebuild on PrestaShop 9.1.5 with PHP 8.3. Custom theme boutiquemotor, based on Hummingbird (not a patched 1.7 theme). Catalog, customers and history migrated. The domain boutiquemotor.es now points at the new shop.

The WordPress blog stays at boutiquemotor.es/blog/ and the home “Guías” block links to real posts. Payments kept for Spain: Redsys / card, Bizum, PayPal and Aplazame.

Theme + home editable from the back office

The homepage is not a frozen collage. Hero, new arrivals, offers, outlet, brands, guides and reviews are managed from the BO. The team changes season and campaigns without touching code. Barlow Condensed, black and yellow: the same identity as the physical shop.

The 6 custom modules

Boutique Motor - home, header, mega menu, footer, contact, cookies/GTM. Every home block is editable from the back office.

TPV Tienda Modern - in-store POS: search, combinations, barcode that opens the matching combination (not every size), labels, cash drawer and parked carts.

Boutique Motor SEO URLs - clean URLs without IDs, 301s from old links, automatic meta titles and descriptions.

BM Abandoned Cart - three reminder emails, coupon and secure unsubscribe.

BM XML Feed - RSS/XML for Google Merchant Center (combinations, sale price, shipping).

Custom invoices - branded PDF invoices (HTML/CSS + Dompdf), not the default TCPDF look.

Plus a custom Hummingbird child theme: product pages, cart, checkout, category filters, legal pages, Google reviews on the home, and a contact form with anti-spam (word check + bot filters).

POS + barcode by combination

For a brick-and-mortar shop in Madrid this matters: the same catalog powers the web and the counter. The barcode opens the combination the customer actually buys (size/color), not a generic product. Labels and cash drawer follow that logic.

SEO + blog on the same domain

Readable URLs, 301s from the old structure, Merchant Center feed, and a WordPress blog under /blog/ on the same domain. The home links to real guides, not empty pages.

Why the new site is better

  • Looks like the brand, not a stock 1.7 Classic theme.
  • Supported stack: PrestaShop 9 + PHP 8.3, versus the 1.7 end-of-life path.
  • Staff can edit the home without a developer.
  • SEO: clean URLs, 301s, Merchant feed, blog on the domain.
  • Shop and web share the same catalog; POS respects combinations.
  • Checkout and cart rewritten for this shop (not default Hummingbird checkout).
  • GDPR cookie banner; contact form is no longer an open spam inbox.
  • Abandoned-cart recovery and proper invoices for a real Madrid retailer.
